The arrival of the internet must be seen in the context of the providential working of God. It is a wonderful tool and its possibilities seem to multiply almost daily. It is a medium to be exploited. Just as the printing press appeared at the time of the Reformation, so the internet has its purpose in our own day and age. Some are want to prophesy the demise of books. However, we should not see books and the internet in terms of either or, but as each having their own place. Books are a permanent, material source of information and will remain so. We can turn to a book and know that it will always be there and always say the same. The internet, on the other hand, whilst speedy and immediate it is also transient and fragile: what is there today is gone tomorrow. The internet is also subject to immediate and direct censorship, books are more difficult to track down and destroy. Each medium has its place and one should not be pitted against the other; the limitations and advantages of both are there to be used and we should do so to the full.
The UK government is proposing to require all internet service providers by law to keep a record of every electronic communication of its customers, including which websites they have visited. Police, local authorities, in all 653 different bodies will be given free access without the permission of a judge or magistrate to this information. Originally the proposal was to store this data on a central government-run database, but this plan has for the present been shelved. A new law will increase the amount of personal information available under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA). This Act was supposed to be for combating terrorism, but it has been used by local authorities for spying on parents, looking in dustbins and many other trivial matters; the police too have stretched these powers to the limit. The new rules known as the Intercept Modernisation Programme mean that information on our internet activity could be kept almost indefinitely in what amounts to a record of every click on line. For the moment the content itself will be unavailable. Whilst there is undoubtedly some justification for spying on enemies of the realm, be they terrorists or others, given the strong anti-Christian stance currently abroad, this must give Christian believers some cause to weigh up how exactly they use the internet. As yet these proposals have not passed into law and we should not be afraid or alarmist in our response, we must simply adjust to the new situation.
What it has meant for Authentic Word is the acquisition of new digital printing equipment which should enable us to produce all kinds of literature more cheaply and in larger quantities than was possible with our offset equipment. What we also realize is that there are still many who have no access to the internet whom we also want to reach. A few items are already available and this list will hopefully be added to in the coming months. Some material will only be publicized and then made available through the mail. Not everything will appear in full on this website. So, please keep your eye on our publications page. Please do what you can to make our material known and do ask for extra copies to pass on to others. We will mail any of our publications to any address in the world.

THE CHRISTIAN and the CIVIL LAW
When Caesar wants the things that are God's
Are we bound by Scripture to obey without question every every law our governments take it into their heads to put on the statute book? What the Bible says.
As godlessness increases in our western democracies, as our leaders seek to redefine morality, diminishing all real sense of right and wrong, so Christian believers are increasingly coming into conflict with the law. Our governments seem unable to bring themselves to punish wrongdoers adequately, and they are now frequently harassing the law abiding. This is a reversal of the godly order. The question now arises as to whether as Christian believers we are bound to obey every law our governments take it into their heads to put on the statute book. ....

THE GOD EVERYONE KNOWS
- an antidote to atheism
Both Psalms 14 and 53 begin with these words: “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” On the surface, these verses simply question the wisdom of those who deny the existence of God, be they atheists or agnostics. However, they actually uncover a deeper prior refusal and rejection of God that has taken place within the heart, governing and directing the entire thought processes. Everything the God-refuser thinks, everything he does, everything he encounters, all are measured by this one thought: there is no God. He sees and understands all things only from this perspective. He simply assumes there is no God, that he does not know Him, has never encountered Him, nor is he ever likely to do so.

..or, can I be a Christian and still believe in evolution?
Evolution is a godless myth, a fable from the pit, and those who believe it have grasped it eagerly with both hands for reasons that have nothing to do with science. Evolution is magic of the abracadabra kind. Cover the chaos with a black cloth and wave a magic wand – the universe is the product of a blind, unconscious, inexplicable process. Stretching it out over billions of years is done simply to make it believable, but it only convinces those for whom the unacceptable alternative, creation out of nothing by the word of God, has already been written off before the discussion begins. Given enough time anything can happen! Viewed from a Scriptural perspective, evolution is an essential element of the revolt of our day against a sovereign and all-sufficient God who brings all things to pass after the counsel of his own will. Debating the pros and cons of evolution with unbelievers without addressing the issue of their own personal rebellion against God is unproductive and only legitimises their unbelief.

The Danger of Christian Complacency
by Dr J. C. Ryle, First Bishop of Liverpool (1816-1900)
Some boldly point to the faults of Protestants, and loudly cry that Romanists are quite as good as ourselves. Some think it fine and liberal to maintain that we have no right to think anyone wrong who is in earnest about his creed. And yet the two great historical facts, (a) that ignorance, immorality and superstition reigned supreme in England 400 years ago under Popery, (b) that the Reformation was the greatest blessing God ever gave to this land – both these are facts which no one but a Papist ever thought of disputing a hundred years ago! In this present day, alas, it is convenient and fashionable to forget them! …

Reflections on a journey through eastern Europe
"Driving through the Ukraine and then through Luther country all had a profound effect upon me. After having just visited a country largely untouched by the Reformation, I was particularly sensitive to the way God used Martin Luther. I was also aware that few today appreciate the wide significance of what lay at the heart of Luther’s message and fewer still want to hear it."

In this article we trace how ‘voluntary’ private and religious schools were deliberately squeezed out of existence by the radicals of the 19th century and replaced by compulsory state education. We continue by looking at some of the men and the ideology that has given us our modern secular education system and show how schools are used deliberately to undermine the Christian faith. This first article then concludes with a brief outline of a Christian and biblical approach to education. Other publications (available shortly)
Two books/booklets will also be available very shortly. The first, THE GOD EVERYONE KNOWS, consists largely of material that has already appeared on this website. The second, THE ABOLITION OF GOD, is almost complete and will contain much new material. Both of these publications are intended for those standing outside the Gospel. Two articles on this website will also, God willing, be made available in printed form. THE SQUANDERED LEGACY takes a look at the way in which the spiritual inheritance of evangelical Christianity has been deliberately jettisoned to court favour a world condemned. It is anticipated that the THE BIG PICTURE will be available again in the very near future.
